2022 Annual Review

We regard 2022 as the year in which we laid the foundation for a new Sefako Makgatho University (SMU). The University is on an advanced trajectory in line with
its 2021-2025 strategic plan, with the academic project and the financial sustainability of the University as key priorities.
Much groundwork has been laid to create a future-ready institution, adept at navigating uncertainty, and introducing innovations and disruptive ideas or
technologies that will benefit the University and society at large.

A core strategic development was a review of the New Business Model, which is exploring options for student funding, commercialisation initiatives and a strong thirdstream income strategy. A dedicated Project Manager, Coordinator and Champion Implementation Specialist has been appointed to fast-track implementation of this flagship project of the University.
