This high-level virtual session brings together thought leaders, policymakers, and researchers to reflect on the STIK Report and chart a course for what comes next. Specifically, the session will:

Share the key findings from the STIK Cooperation Report with a broad audience of stakeholders.

Facilitate discussions among senior stakeholders on policy-level issues arising from the report.

Identify strategic goals and policy tools that serve as effective levers in bilateral collaboration between Canada and South Africa.

Explore how the relationship can advance shared goals in science diplomacy and inclusive innovation.

Policy Dialogue on Industrialisation through Innovation

This dialogue will bring together policy makers, researchers, academia, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and development partners from South Africa and the region to explore how science, technology and innovation (STI) can drive re-industrialisation and inclusive growth.

Launch of the 2025 South African Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators Report

The South African Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators Report is one of the ways in which the National Advisory Council on Innovation assesses the performance of the national system of innovation. Stakeholders from various sectors, including government, academia, industry and civil society are invited to the launch and to engage with the findings of the report.

Seminar Honouring the legacy of Prof. David Kaplan

The seminar will include reflections on his contribution to the national system of innovation and development in South Africa, including science, technology and innovation policy and industrial development, and engagement on current and emerging policy challenges facing South Africa’s development trajectory.
