The 2023 Performance Assessment Report is informed by the Seven Year StrategicPlan of the University of Mpumalanga, UMP Vision 2022, which was approved byCouncil in July 2015. Two Annual Performance Plans (APPs) were developed forthe 2023 academic year. The first APP was based on the template provided by theDepartment of Higher Education and Training (DHET) reflecting the MinisterialTargets as per the 2022-2025 Enrolment Plans. The second APP (Internal) wasinformed by the Strategic Plan of the institution and reflects the eight Activityareas, goals and objectives as per the approved Strategic Plan. The performance against the Annual Performance Plan (Internal) was monitoredon a quarterly basis by the Strategy Committee of Council and by the InternalAuditors. Performance during the course of the year was exemplary as all of theimplementation measures were achieved. The Mid-Term Report on the AnnualPerformance Plan (January – June 2023) was submitted to DHET.A detailed analysis of the University’s performance in relation to the AnnualPerformance as at 31 December 2023 is presented in Annexures 2 and 3.

The 2022 Performance Assessment Report is informed by the Seven YearStrategic Plan of the University of Mpumalanga, UMP Vision 2022, which wasapproved by Council in July 2015. Two Annual Performance Plans (APPs) weredeveloped for the 2022 academic year. The first APP was based on the templateprovided by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) reflectingthe Ministerial Targets as per the 2022-2025 Enrolment Plans. The second APP,the APP (Internal) was informed by the Strategic Plan of the institution and reflectsthe eight Activity Areas, goals, and objectives as per the approved Strategic Plan.The performance against the Annual Performance Plan (Internal) was monitoredon a quarterly basis by the Strategy Committee of Council and by the InternalAuditors. Performance during the course of the year was good as the majority ofthe implementation measures were achieved. The Mid-Term Report on the AnnualPerformance Plan (January – June 2022) was submitted to DHET.A detailed analysis of the University’s performance in relation to the AnnualPerformance Plan as of 31 December 2022 is presented in Annexure 2. 

The 2021 Performance Assessment Report is informed by the Seven Year Strategic Plan of the University of Mpumalanga, UMP Vision 2022, which was approved by Council in July 2015. The first APP was based on the template provided by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) reflecting the Ministerial Targets as per the 2022-2025 Enrolment Plans. The second app, the APP (Internal), was informed by the institution's strategic plan and reflects the eight activity areas, goals, and objectives as per the approved strategic plan. The performance against the Annual Performance Plan (Internal) was monitoredon a quarterly basis by the Strategy Committee of Council and by the InternalAuditors. Performance during the course of the year was satisfactory as themajority of the implementation measures were either achieved or on target. TheMid-Term Report on the Annual Performance Plan (January – June 2021) wassubmitted to DHET.A detailed analysis of the University’s performance in relation to the AnnualPerformance as at 31 December 2021 is presented in Table 1 and Annexure 2.

The process of developing the Annual Performance Plansis informed by the Strategic Plan of the Institution and the Management ofPerformance Information Policy.Two Annual Performance Plans (APPs) were developed for the 2020 academicyear. The first APP was based on the template provided by the Department ofHigher Education and Training (DHET) and was submitted to the Department ofHigher Education and Training in December 2019 as per the guidelines from theDHET.The second APP was developed in alignment with the Strategic Plan of theinstitution. This APP touches upon the eight Activity Areas that are coveredby the Strategic Plan. The two APPs are intended to provide a comprehensiveassessment of the performance of the institution.A detailed analysis of the University’s performance in relation to the AnnualPerformance Plan is presented in Annexure 1.

The two APPs are intended to provide a comprehensiveassessment of the performance of the institution.A detailed analysis of the University’s performance in relation to the AnnualPerformance Plans is presented in Annexures 2 and 3.

The 2017 Performance Assessment Report is informed by the Seven Year StrategicPlan of the institution, UMP Vision 2022, which was approved by Council in July 2015. One of the important developments in 2017 was the approval by Council of the Policy on Management of Performance Information. The policy provides the framework and the guiding principles for the management of information.Two Annual Performance Plans (APP) were developed for the 2017 academic year.The first APP was based on the template provided by the Department of HigherEducation and Training (DHET) and the second APP was informed by the StrategicPlan of the University.A detailed analysis of the University’s performance in relation to the AnnualPerformance Plans is presented in Annexures 2 and 3.

The Performance Assessment Report is informed by the Strategic Plan of the institution, UMP 2022, which was approved by Council in July 2015. The Annual Performance Plan was developed for the 2016 academic year as informed by the template provided by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and the Strategic Plan of the University. In this regard, two versions of the Annual Performance Plan were developed.The first version as stipulated by the DHET covered the following key performanceindicators:a) Student enrolment targets;b) Success rates;c) Research-related indicators;d) Earmarked grants;e) Consolidated three year budget; andf) Institutional Risk Register.The second version focused on the strategic plan and covered 13 activity areas:A detailed analysis of the University’s performance in relation to the Annual Performance Plans is presented in Annexures 2 and 3.

University of Mpumalanga Annual Reports
